Update Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 with Official Gingerbread 2.3.6 XXLA3


Feel Free! It’s Galaxy Note N7000 as in the due course of the article we will check out on how you can update with the latest Gingerbread 2.3.6 firmware version which is dubbed as XXLA3. Please note that this is not an official firmware version launched from Samsung Electronics Ltd globally but this update is pushed Officially for European users. Since this is the manual update which we will be checking out, it will be applied through Odin and not via KIES tool.

  • Applying this update won’t root the device in any manner, so you will not lose the warranty which is the case if you root the phone.
  • Just in case if you have already rooted the Galaxy note N7000 then after applying this update the rooting access will be revoked and you can claim back the lost warranty.

So assuming that you have followed the list of instructions mentioned in the above link, you now need to proceed further where we will see on how to apply this update of XXLA3 Gingerbread 2.3.6 on your Galaxy Note N7000.

Procedure to Update Galaxy Note N7000 with XXLA3 Gingerbread 2.3.6:
  • Match all the extracted files from the below mentioned screen capture and note that even if single file is missing then you need to check with the download or extraction of the same.
  • From extracted files, open the Odin executable file and turn Off your Galaxy Note. Now, you need to turn ON your Galaxy Note N7000 in the download Mode. The download mode can be entered by pressing Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.

  • Once the Note is turned ON in the download mode, with the help of USB Cable connect the phone with the computer while keeping Odin opened in your computer.
  • As soon as drivers are installed successfully, the ID : COM section in odin will turn yellow after which proceed to the next step to select the files.

In Odin, click on the corresponding tabs and select the files as mentioned in the below list.
DANGER: Re-Partition Option should be “UNTICKED” or else your phone may get bricked.

  • After selecting all the files and checking the same that right files are selected, click on “Start” to start the firmware update process.
  • Once you click on “Start”, within 10 minutes the firmware will be applied successfully and then the device will be rebooted. Once you see the home screen in your phone, disconnect the connected phone and turn Off the phone so as to enter the phone in the recovery mode.
  • In recovery mode, select options Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and also you need to select the option of “Clear Dalvik Cache” after which you need to reboot your device by selecting reboot system now after which all the cache files will get deleted.
  • To ensure that the firmware is applied successfully, you need to check the same from the path “Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version” where you will find the version of XXLA3 Android 4.0.3 firmware. If there is any other version then do let us know in the comments section below.
